CLEVELAND, April 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Their passion began 13 years ago when their son was diagnosed with autism at just 18 months of age. “Back in 2001, our son was born with autism. Thanks to early intervention, including intense speech therapy, I’m proud to say he’s grown into a very happy, independent young man,” explains The Orange Effect Foundation Co-Founder and Executive Director, Pam Kozelka. “Early intervention is proven to greatly increase a child’s chance of success. We want other families to have access to the same kind of therapy our family did.”

The mission of The Orange Effect Foundation is to empower children and young adults with speech disorders to effectively communicate through therapy, education, research and technology services. The roots of The Orange Effect Foundation began back in 2007 when Joe and Pam began the Golf for Autism event. Over the years, the annual fundraiser has raised more than $100,000 for the Easter Seals of Northern Ohio, Autism and Speech Therapy Services.

“We are very proud of the funds we’ve been able to raise for Easter Seals. Now we’ve decided it’s time to do more,” explains Joe Pulizzi, The Orange Effect Foundation Co-Founder and Founder of Content Marketing Institute (CMI). “We want to help not only those with autism, but any child or young adult who is challenged with a speech disorder.”

The mission of The Orange Effect Foundation is to provide financial grants to families, schools, counselors, doctors and hospitals for the speech therapy services that these individuals need. Initially, The Orange Effect Foundation raises funds through the annual Golf for Autism event, along with fundraising events through Content Marketing Institute, as well as Content Marketing World, the largest content marketing industry event.

Research shows speech therapy improves communication and enhances a person’s quality of life, and those who improve the most are often those who receive the most speech therapy. Intensive, individualized treatment can help lessen the disabling isolation that may result from communication disabilities.

“Whether they are using their own voice or using some amazing new technology, we want to help make sure every individual has the ability to communicate,” explains Krissy Leskovec, The Orange Effect Foundation program manager. “Effective communication really allows people to live a more satisfying life in every way.”
